My Story

My story begins growing up outside of Los Angeles, CA in a beautiful home; my childhood bedroom had a view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

Although, at the time I did not know how fortunate I was to have grown up their. Life hit my on the head, the down side to this blessing was unless I was very wealthy, my living situation went from living like a princess to a popper. There was no in-between with my standard of living. We could afford only very less than desirable neighborhoods.

Soon my young family moved to the very affordable Midwest and within a year we were able to purchase our first home.

Excited first time homeowners we completed home improvements such as changing the front door, painting the exterior of the house, removing bushes and adding shutters.

Soon the boring ranch style home had some character.

On top of that the house prices went soaring up in one year.

Being young energetic entrepreneurs we decided to sell our home, we chose to go "for sale by owner”. The exterior had great curb appeal after all of those upgrades we had already completed.

We gave the interior a fresh coat of paint, decluttered and cleaned.

Showing the house ourselves we anxiously waited for an offer on our home so we could start this new adventure in our lives.

We were under contract for our asking price within weeks.

We took the profit and invested in a graphic design, print shop.

Starting our business on a shoestring budget, I designed and we finished the entire storefront and then finished we finished it ourselves. (I was 7 months pregnant at that time.)

Print Source was a success and we owned this company for many years until we decided to move to Denver, Co.

We sold the business for a profit, we were on our way.

Then we purchased our second home in a seller's market. The home was brand new. This very modest 1230 square foot home was ours. We finished our small basement, added on a deck, beautiful landscaping and décor inside.

After several years we decided to move to a smaller town outside Denver, where we could afford a larger home. Once again we had our house up "for sale by owner."

After being inspired by all of the model homes I had been viewing, I staged our house, in hopes of recieving top dollar.

We removed extra furniture, cleared clutter, and rented a storage unit to store all the stuff. Each room had a purpose, the house was clean and clutter free.

When showing the house I placed fresh flowers, a table set, fresh towels and so on… Upon showing the house one day, a gentleman asked if I am a professional stager. I told him, I was not.

He then shared he was a photographer and had taken many photos for professional designers, and that I should be a designer. That, was a turning point in my story, his comment started me thinking and boosted my confidence.

We sold the house for 10k over the asking price.

Happily we moved into our new neighborhood, and larger home. Of course there was so much to do in this new house.

Eagerly I jumped into all of those projects, the yard, basement, window coverings and of course decor. All of which I designed and we tackled ourselves. We were busy making this home our forever home. During this time I worked in a job that was less than rewarding I decided to return to college for a degree in interior design.

After I graduated we went through a divorce and I could no longer afford my beautiful home.

After putting so many years of sacrifice into my forever home, and becoming friends with my neighbors my heart was broken. Once again I was selling my home.

This time was different. The market was down; I was losing my forever home, and leaving neighbors that I loved. Preparing the house for sale was an emotionally exhausting chore. Every box that I packed, felt as if I was packing the weight of the world.

Preparing my house for sale was very taxing, being a single mom and working full time.

My forever home did sell, less than the asking price...

I share my story with you, so hopefully you will see that I understand the many reasons for selling your home.

Each one of the reason can be nerve wracking, and can be very emotional. These feelings definitely can hinder the process of preparing your house for sale.

It has been my experience that no matter how difficult and unhappy I felt about selling my homes there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

My story is the the reason, for my detach yourself exercise. In the end… There is a light at the end of the tunnel and in my case it was for the better.

I am now a self employed interior designer, and home stager.

These life experiences that I share with you have been my inspiration in choosing this career.

Also motivated me to design this web site so that I may of help people with preparing their home for sale.
